Joseph-and-roxy

Muyambe Foundation began in 2019 by married Ugandan and Australian couple, Joseph & Roxy Sekatte. Joseph grew up in our community Nakulabye, one of the largest slum communities in Kampala. He had already formed a small community group in the hope of starting an organisation for the people in his community. When he met Roxy in 2019 they both knew that they wanted to work together to make his dream become a reality.

Joseph & Roxy are both social workers who love people and want to make the world a better place. They are drawn to helping and supporting others, and that’s where “Muyambe Foundation” began. From a simple dream to love, support and bring hope to others. Muyambe means “Help” in the local language of Luganda.

Muyambe Foundation is all about empowering members of the community to build a safe place and create a community.

For Joseph, this dream is extremely important to him as in high school his parents could not afford his school fees. It was through sports, and boxing that he was allowed to study via a scholarship. If it wasn’t for the people who believed in him and provided him with mentorship (his coaches and teachers) he would not be the person he is today. He has seen the difference this can make in a person’s life. This is what he needed to succeed and that is our hope as we bring support through Muyambe. That the children will feel loved and believed in, that they matter despite their circumstances. We hope that you are empowered and encouraged by this incredible community.
